Kanz Care ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information we collect, hold, and use in the course of providing NDIS services. This policy explains how we handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the NDIS Practice Standards.

The information we collect

We may collect the following types of personal information from participants, their families, nominees, and other people we work with:

• Name, date of birth, contact details, and emergency contacts
• NDIS participant number and plan details
• Health, disability, and support information relevant to the services we provide
• Cultural and language background, where relevant to person-centred care
• Information about your goals, preferences, and the supports you receive
• Records of communications and incidents

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

• Deliver the supports and services you've engaged us for
• Match you with workers whose skills suit your needs
• Coordinate with your support coordinator, family, or other providers (with consent)
• Comply with our obligations under the NDIS, WorkSafe, and other applicable laws
• Improve the quality and safety of our services

Who we share information with

We only disclose personal information to people and organisations who genuinely need it, including:

• Kanz Care workers directly delivering your supports
• Your NDIS support coordinator or plan manager, with your consent
• Health professionals involved in your care, with your consent
• The NDIA, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, or other regulators, where required by law
• Emergency services, in situations involving risk to life or safety

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for marketing purposes.

How we store and protect your information

Your information is stored in secure electronic systems with restricted access, and any paper records are kept in locked cabinets. We use strong access controls, encryption where appropriate, and regular staff training to maintain confidentiality. Records are retained for the period required by NDIS rules (typically seven years) and securely destroyed afterwards.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Request a copy of your records
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date
• Withdraw consent for non-essential sharing of your information
• Make a complaint about how we've handled your information
